Bhatkal, Feb 3: Kattaveera won for the first time in the history of Bhatkal by beating YMSA by 23 runs in the final of Moon Star Champion Trophy.
Kattaveera won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Shekar scored an aggressive 60 runs as Kattaveera managed 142-7 in 20 overs.
Chasing a score of 143, YMSA lost to opening batsmen Noor and Qais as soon as the match begun. Marwan Shanu managed to score 38 runs
The team managed a score of 120 runs in 19.4 overs for the loss of all their wickets. Pawan Kumar got 3 wickets, while Rohidas, Nagraj and Mahesh got two wickets each.
Keshaw of Kattaveera Bhatkal was declared player of the tournament. Shekar of Kattaveera Bhatkal was awarded Man of the Match, Best batsman title was given to Nauman Tahira of Madina Sports Center Bhatkal ,Danish of YMSA bagged the best bowler title, Best Wicket-keeper Ali Ahmed of Shaheen Murdeshwar, Fatest 100 Noor Muniri of YMSA Bhatkal, Fairplay Award Team Youngstar
Winners Kattaveera Bhatkal were awarded a trophy with Rs 50,000 cash prize, YMSA the runners up awarded a trophy with Rs 30,000 cash prize.
A total of 30 teams had participated in the tournament. The tournament began on 5th January 2015.
Moonstar member Mohsin Bafaqui and Shamoon Hajifaqui were also honoured on the occasion.
At the closing Ceromony , Bhatkal Assistant commissioner Chidanad Watare, Majilse Islah Wa Tanzeem General Secretary Mohiddin Altaf Kharurui, Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation President Imtiyaz Udaywar, General Secretary Moulana Irfan SM, Master Saifullah, JDS Leader Inayatullah Shabandri, Sports Director BMYF Naseef Khalifa, Social Worker Fayyaz Mulla, Muzaffar Kola, Moulana Aziziur Rahman Nadvi, Abu Faisal Mohtesham, Syed Umer Bafqui, Moonstar General Secretary and managing Editor Sahilonline Inayatullah Gawai, Nasrullah Askeri, Siraj, Jalauddin, and many others were present.
Moonstar Sports Center president Yusuf Belli presided over the function.
