Berlin, Feb 3 (IANS): English football club Chelsea's German midfielder Andre Schuerrle has joined Wolfsburg until June 2019, the Bundesliga club confirmed on its official homepage.
After a long back and forth, Chelsea and Wolfsburg finally reached an agreement on the transfer of the German international on the last day of the transfer window, Monday, reports Xinhua.
Schurrle and Wolfsburg settled on a contract until June 2019. Chelsea and Wolfsburg agreed to keep silence on the rest of the transfer details.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who also plays as a striker, joined Premier League side Chelsea in June 2013 by putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.
However, despite scoring 11 goals in 44 appearances Schurrle never managed to get a permanent spot in Chelsea's starting eleven.
Schurrle was part of Germany's World Cup winning squad in Brazil. He assisted Mario Goetze with a cross for the decisive 1-0 win against Argentina in the 113th minute.
Wolfsburg's new arrival has scored 17 goals overall in 42 international caps.
