Bengaluru, Feb 3: In an incident which seemed to be borne out of blinding enmity borne out of anger, a woman killed both her small children and then committed suicide by hanging herself. The deaths took place in Pillappa Colony of Jeevanbeema Nagar here on Monday February 2 afternoon. Reportedly, discord between the couple was the reason for this catastrophe.

Vindhya (28), wife of Pradeep from Pillappa Colony in Jeevanbeema Nagar killed her children, Gagan (5), and Monisha (30 months), by smothering them before committing suicide.

As usual, Pradeep, working as supervisor for a private company, had left for work at around 9 am, and returned home at 3.30 pm. He knocked at the door of his home repeatedly. As there was no response, he called his wife's cell phone number, and heard that the phone was ringing inside his house. He then peeped into the house through the window and found his wife hanging from the ceiling fan.

Neighbours came running after hearing the wails of Pradeep, and broke the door of the house. By then, both the children and their mother had breathed their last, policemen said.

It is believed that differences between Vindhya and her husband would have been the cause behind this incident. The policemen said they are questioning Pradeep and his close relatives to get to the root of the issues involved. Gagan was a UKG student in a private school nearby.

A case of murder and unnatural death stands registered in Jeevanbeema Nagar police station. Investigation is in progress.
