Mangaluru: DC warns autos against collecting excessive fare

Mangaluru, Jan 28: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner,who also happens to be the chairman of Regional Transport Authority, has clarified that the revised auto rickshaw fare fixed for the district, which is effective from January 12 this year, has already been published. Through a release, he said that no changes have been affected by the regional transport authority in the rate already announced.

'The authority has been receiving complaints about the fact that some auto rickshaws have been charging fare that is not commensurate with the list already announced. All the auto rickshaw drivers and owners have to strictly collect fare from the passengers at the rate already fixed by the authority. He has warned that with effect from January 28, strict legal action will be taken against owners and drivers of auto rickshaws found to be collecting fare in violation of the order already issued,' he has warned.

    A GOOD DRAMA BY DC OTHERWISE LET HIM IMPLEMENT WHAT HE SAYS. THE DRAMA OF PENALYSING BUS CONDUCTORS FOR NOT USING TICKETING MACHINES IS NOT STRICTLY IMPLEMENTED EVEN AFTER MONTHS LAPSE.

    Today's drive was peaceful in Mangaluru with no auto's on the road. DC should also implement a toll free number to complaint against arrogant auto drivers and also ensure these numbers are displayed in all the auto's in DK
