Pro-Kabbadi competition organized at Karavali Ustava 2014

Mangaluru, Jan 1: District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the state level flood light pro-Kabbadi competition organized on behalf of Karavali Ustava 2014 at Nehru Maidan here on Wednesday December 31.

After inaugurating, B Ramanath Rai addressed the gathering and said "Kabbadi is unique game and is extremely popular. Sports have got unique position in Dakshina Kannada. Several sportspersons have emerged from our Dakshina Kannada district and have contributed in the field of sports in state, national and international level. In future days forest department will establish teams for Kabbadi and Volleyball from the department."

State minister Abayachandra Jain felicitated sportspersons MR Povamma, Sahana Nagaraj, Udaya Chowta, Sukesh Hegde and Prashanth Rai for their contribution in the sports in national and international level.

Abayachandra Jain in his address said "Government has provided all basic facilities for the sports. Within three months a swimming pool in Emme Kere and Indoor stadium for Kabbadi and Shuttle court worth rupees 4.5 crore . Government supporting the sports will provide 15 synthetic tracks in undivided Dakshina Kannada.

To create employment opportunity for he also urged the Forest minister in providing employment for sportsman in forest department .

Mayor Mahabala Marla welcomed the gathering.
