Udupi, Dec 25: Hindu outfit Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) held a protest against state government for its 'anti-Hindu' policies of withdrawing the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill 2010 and for condemning Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment (Amendment) Bill 2014 near board high school service bus stand Udupi.
Addressing the protesters Narasimha Swamiji of Balekudru said, " The decision is against the people's sentiments. There is a histroy for the maths of India. Saffron is the symbol of sacrifice and fire. The maths do not need any grants from the state government. The purpose of maths is to create a life of sacrifice in people. The CM has launched many schemes, but they have failed in implementation. The state government lacks maturity in governance. I request that maths should not come under state government and they should function as they used to be run before."
Bajarang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell said " The Government should not interfere in the matters of maths. They should not take control of math. We feel that there is a huge conspiracy behind withdrawing the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill 2010. The maths are very transparent in whatever they do. But the Christian and Muslim charitable trusts are not transparent in their work. Till now no serious punishment has been given to the persons who are involved in illegal cattle trafficking and cattle slaughtering. There is a need to have strong law which will punish the culprits who are involved in these."
Ex-MLA Raghupathi Bhat, State BJP president Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, district BJP president Raghavendra Kini were present.
More than 100 supporters of VHP and Bajarang Dal were present in the protest.
