Mangaluru, Dec 21: The National level Aloysian Fest- 2014-15 concluded after 3 days of festivities. The valedictory programme was presided over by the campus minister, Fr Francis D’Almeida, in the presence of the principal Fr Swebert D’Silva. The chief guest of the function was Dr MeeraArahna (General Manager, Karnataka Bank).
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Meera congratulated the management and entire team involved in organizing the fest. “Power of thinking can most certainly help you to achieve anything in life.” Dr Meera said.
She also added “Power of thinking is power of thought.”
Addressing the young people in the audience during the presidential address, Fr Francis D’Almeida, the campus minister of the college, said he just had one message “Come what may, stand straight and face the challenge till the very end.” Stressing on the importance of how students should achieve their goals, he gave examples of many famous personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and John F Kennedy.
The vice principals of all the streams, the staff and student coordinators of the individual fests, Aloysian fest Convener Prof John Sherraand student council director John Edward D’silva, the president of the Student council Lizane Tanya D’souza, the secretary Deepak Balliga and speaker Nakul Raj, were present on the dais.
The Aloysian Fest 2014-15 encompasses fests of diverse streams such as:
ARTBEAT:The Arts fest had the theme ‘Ithihotsav, Reliving the Golden Age’. The venue of the fest was decorated to give us a view of the nostalgic beauty of Indian history. The backdrop, the exhibition, the photo booth, were among the main attractions. To add to the theme of the fest, the students also dressed up royally.A total of 12 colleges participated in the fest to make it a grand success.
IMPRINTS: The Science fest which has the theme‘Rejuvenating the Indian Scientific Mind’ had an emphasis on innovation. All the events were conducted by the bio science,and physical science streams.A science exhibition ‘Shoonya Shakti’ displaying products and innovations of different agencies and the innovative working models by the students was held as part of the fest.14 colleges participated in the fest.
SPIN-OUT: The Management fest ‘The Excerptor’ has various events like Content Marketing, Best Manager, Human Resources, Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Relation Expertise to identify the attributes of young budding managers of tomorrow. A total of 17 colleges took part in the fest.
ACME: The commerce fest had the theme ‘Immortality 2K14’. They had events like Quiz, Mock Stock, Best Manager and so on. A total of 11 colleges participated in the fest.
ASTITVA: The Cultural Fest common to all streamswas held on December 19 and December 20 2014. It had events such as Variety Entertainment, JAM, Painting, Mad Ads and cultural events such as, Classical Dance (Solo and Group) which brought all the streams together to witness a distinct cultural extravaganza.
COMPOSITE: The National Level IT fest was organized exclusively by the students for the first time with the theme ‘Theatre of Transition’. It provided opportunities to the students with events like Mad ads, Paper presentation, IT quiz, Coding and Debugging, Gaming and Web designing to showcase their talents. A total of 18 colleges actively participated in this fest.
BATTLE OF BANDS: An inter-collegiate battle of musical bands was organized by the college for the first time on December 20 in the college grounds.6 Bands from all over Karnataka battled it out to win Rs. 10,000
ALOYSIAD: A sports fest at the inter-collegiate level for men and women had events such as throw ball, basketball, softball, volleyball and football tournaments was held from December 18 to December 20 , 2014 at the college grounds. A total of 40 colleges participated in this fest.
