Udupi, Dec 18: Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, organized a get-together programme for media persons ahead of Christmas celebrations on Thursday December 18 at the Bishop’s Office.
The celebration began with a silent prayer for the victims of the Peshawar massacre and was inaugurated with the cutting of the cake by Bishop Lobo.
The Bishop, in his message said, “It is a matter of pride that Lord Jesus was born and lived in the midst of the poor people. His lifestyle symbolizes freedom, peace, integration, and morality in society. Human values are decreasing these days.”
“The media is the fourth estate of democracy; if they follow their responsibility without any hindrance, only then will a healthy society develop,” he added, and urged support for the same from the media people.
Monsignor Baptist Menezes said, “Christmas is a beautiful fest. This is a sharing, thinking, and appreciating phase.” He offered his appreciation to all media persons in Udupi for their constructive and positive role.
On the occasion, Jayakar Suvarna, president, Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, was felicitated by Bishop Lobo.
