Udupi: District police annual sports 2014 begins at Chandu Maidan

Udupi, Dec 18: District commissioner Dr R Vishal inaugurated a two-day ‘Udupi District Police Annual Sports Meet–2014’ by releasing a bunch of colourful balloons. The sports meet was held on Thursday December 18 at Chandu Maidan.

Men and women police who had arrived from Udupi, Kundapur, and Karkala participated in the march past.

Vishal said after inaugurating the event, “Sports keeps the body fit and the mind fresh. Games help to deal with challenging tasks. A proposal on implementing fast track institutes (police training institute) in the district has been sent to the state government and the process is on”.

“The police should focus on their health along with service. Police play a crucial role in the daily affairs of society,” he said, adding that Ajjarkad Gandhi Maidan and the fully-fledged indoor stadium is now open for all police officials and urged them to make effective use of these.

Dr Rajendra Prasad, superintendent of police, proposed the welcome speech.

Additional SP Santhosh Kumar, Karkala-Kundapur ASP Annamaliah, and DySP Udupi Prabhudeva Mane were present on the occasion.
