Mangaluru, Nov 14: Mount Carmel Central School, celebrated Children’s Day for the nursery and kindergarten children on November 13. It was a delightful sight to see the kids dressed in colourful attire, excitedly enjoying their special day.
The celebration for the nursery children began with a prayer song followed by an engaging dance and action song by the teachers, captivating the little audience. A special skit, performed by the teachers, conveyed the important message of ‘Avoiding excessive use of phones,’ which resonated with both children and their parents.
The event was inspired by the words of India’s first prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru: “Children are the buds in a garden and should be nurtured carefully and lovingly, for they are the future of our nation and the citizens of tomorrow.”
To add more fun to the day, a fancy-dress competition and other fun games, such as rabbit race, ball in the bucket, passing the cap were organised. The fancy dress competition was a maiden opportunity for the children to introduce themselves on stage so as to build their confidence. Guests cum judges were warmly welcomed and were delighted by the imaginative costumes, adorable outfits, resembling fruits, vegetables, and other objects, making the event a visual treat.
At the end of the competitions, the winners were announced and felicitated. As a sweet finale, all children were treated to a delicious ice cream. With smiles and happy hearts, the children left for home, marking the day as truly memorable.
For the kindergarten children, the programme began with a prayer followed by a heartfelt message from Sr Carissima, the administrator of the school, who emphasised the importance of supporting children’s dreams and nurturing their talents.
The children had a free hand where they showcased their talents with their facilitators. An elocution competition was held, and the certificates were awarded to the winners. Adding to the celebration, the SBI organised a colouring competition which the children thoroughly enjoyed. The festivities concluded with an outing to the school park, where the children got delighted to an ice cream treat.
The beaming smiles and joyful laughter marked the day as an unforgettable celebration of childhood for both the nursery and kindergarten children.
