Kuwait, Jun 23: United Mangaloreans Kuwait (UMK) will present its fifth "Fun Filled Evening - 2014" on October 3 (Friday) this year at American International School Auditorium, Maidan Hawalli, Kuwait sharp at 4 pm.
This year UMK will present a Konkani comedy drama 'Sagle Dinvchen Thane', written by Pradeep Barboza, Paladka and directed by experienced director Ronald D’Souza - Mulky, along with variety of lively melodious songs and foot-tapping dances, in aid of two institutions: Manasa, Rehabilitation and Training Center for the differently abled, situated at Pamboor, Udupi district and De Mercede Orphanage, Destitute Children's Home, which provides shelter and education with love and care for the underprivileged children, situated at Panir, Deralakatte run by Usuline Franciscan Congregation in Mangalore Province.
The muhurat ceremony of the drama was held recently. The event started with the prayer led by Vrinda Lewis, followed by lighting of lamp by the guests on the dais. Gurkar of UMK Agnel Saldanha welcomed the gathering, and thanked all those who supported UMK whole heartedly in all these years. Joel Pinto gave a brief introduction of UMK and its achievements in the past four years.
Director of the drama Ronald D'Souza, Mulki, inaugurated the script book. Treasurer Nancy Pinto requested all to join hand in hand to make Fun Filled Evening 2014 a grand success. Guest James D’Sa as an audience spoke about UMK’s hard work in bringing a smile on the needy brethren back home in Mangalore and stressed for the unity of the members. Macleen Rodrigues conducted the oath-taking. Mario Wilson Cornelio compered the event. UMK has requested one and all to participate in this fun-filled event and support this worthy cause wholeheartedly.
'United Mangloreans Kuwait (UMK)' is a group of talented artistes under the leadership of Agnel Saldanha with the motto 'Our talent - Help for the underprivileged'.
The objective of the group is to help the underprivileged back home in Mangalore. In the past four years, UMK has contributed a total sum of Rs 44 lac to four needy organizations in and around Mangalore. The benefited charity firms are Sneha Sadan - HIV aids center- Gurpur-Mangalore (Rs 4.14 lac), Navachetana Special School at Venur (Rs 9.11 lac), White Doves of Mangalore (Rs 14.47 lac), Little Sisters of Poor – Home for the Aged, Bajjodi – Mangalore (Rs 16.08 lac). This was possible only due to the overwhelming support from the sponsors and well-wishers who have contributed generously.
