Mangalore, Jun 15: Six persons were arrested and remanded in judicial custody for allegedly assaulting and attempting to outrage the modesty of the lady director of Pandith Resorts at Bannadka, Alangar in Moodbidri on Friday June 13.
It is said that director of the resort and a woman by name Varija Shetty along with Gopal Pandit and Aravind Padival have been involved in a protracted land dispute. The case is pending in court.
On Friday morning, allegedly on the behest of Varija Shetty and others, locals Shivaprasad Shetty, Prajwal Acharya Moodukonaje, fitter Ravi Swarajya Maidan, Deekshith Nagarakatte, Praveen Fitter Muragoli and Sujeeth Shetty allegedly entered the resort premises from its rear gate, armed with lethal weapons. It is said that they not only assaulted the director, but also tried to molest her.
Aggrieved by the incident, the director filed a complaint in the local police station. Acting on the complaint, a team of policemen led by inspector Anantapadmanabha arrested the accused.
All the six accused were remanded in 15 days judicial custody.
