Karkala: Thousands gather for annual feast of St Antony's Shrine, Pakala

Karkala, Jun 13: The annual feast of St Antony's Shrine, Pakala in Belman here was celebrated with much joy and religious fervour on Friday June 13.

The celebrations began with a Mass at 10.30 am, led by Fr Denis D'Sa, parish priest of Kuntalnagar Church and PRO of Udupi diocese.

The shrine has a history of about 150 years.

Apart from Catholics, people of other religions too often visit the Shrine for offerings and lighting candles

Nearly 3,500 people were part of the Mass and the festivities. They were served with snacks.

After the Mass, special prayers were offered for those suffering from illnesses.

Vice-president of the Church Gregory Menezes welcomed the gathering while Fr Lawrence D'Souza, parish priest of Belman Church proposed the vote of thanks.

A special attraction of the day was a musical band by children belonging to St Joseph's Church and Blue Star band.
