Beltangady, Jun 12: In a tragic incident, a young girl reportedly hanged herself in a paying guest accomodation here on Thursday June 12.

The deceased has been identified as Pooja (17), daughter of Nagaraj from Kalasa.

She was a first PU student of SDM College, Ujire.

It is said that Pooja was depressed over the fact that she had failed in PU exams. However, she had told her friends that she had passed.

She attempted re-exams, but failed again. Unable to cope with the failure for a second time, she allegedly took the extreme step.

very sad to know suicide is the solution for Pooja. By commiting suicide problems will not solve, it adds woe on her parents, failure is not the end of everything, one should be positive in life and fight back. thats how it goes, may her soul rest in peace

And this government only wants to build IITs so only those who excel in studies can excel in life. There is so much demand for ITIs for technical education and this falls on deaf ears. If our leaders are so stupid what else can you expect from these kids. We are not trying to understand their problems

To day I attended a innaugaral function of a new P.U.College here. The Chairman of the education trust which manages the new college in his speech was stressing the tendency of suicide amongst students of todays time and particula about the necessity of councelling aspect. He was categorical that every institution imparting higher education from SSLC,PU,degree classes and others should compulsarily have to start councelling classes for the benifit of students. This will enhance the stability amongst students who are laging behind than others in studies.

Crazy girl instead of suicide, she may implement her own talent which goes "Highlight" one day, exam fail no problem we have lot of other way to achieve the Aim.
Best example is Central woman minister Smirti Irani she is not much educated but now she is Minister of HRD! because of her own talent.
by the way life is not permanent for all. but we should utilize that in Good manner.
    RIP

Children shouldn't feel that life is over because of one bad result. Parents also need to ease up and encourage their children to cope with stress and failure. Not everyone can do it the first time around and that too is okay! RIP

    R.I.P.

In my time, I learnt to accept or consoled myself as 'Failure is a stepping stone for success’.
Thank God for what I am today. I failed academically but succeeded in life. Sometimes luck also plays a role.

Parents are keeping high hopes in children, so that children take such drastic step. What god has given he has to take. May her soul rest in peace.

What did she 'really learn' till first P.U. is the real question. Very sad. What a blunder!
In our times our teachers used to say " seeing you in the same class
makes me feel ashamed ". Failed boys and girls used to smile happily or sometimes even shamelessly at that.
    We have progressed for sure.

It is very sad to know about the incident. It is unfortunate that our education system focuses so much on testing the memory of what students remember in span of 3 hours rather emphasizing on the learning. Education is to build an individual and help them to shape lives. Let there be an end to judge ones capabilities with the marks obtained in examinations.

Here the real failure is not she failing her 12th, but the failure of 12 years of schooling which could not teach her on how to deal with consequences of life.

Students of today really need some strong counselling.Parents must identify their strengths and weakness and support them accordingly. Parents must not pressurize them too much or compare them with others. Today i see a lot of parents competing with each other almost at the cost of theirs kids happiness/life. We have so many examples of individuals with no education being successful in their life. RIP Pooja
