Islamabad, Jul 1: Pakistan on Friday rejected as "fabricated" and "imaginary" remarks on Kashmir attributed to President Pervez Musharraf by the local media that he would look for other "options" to resolve the issue if talks with India failed to make a headway.

The story carried out by 'Online' news agency quoting Musharraf as saying that the Kashmir issue "will never be settled if not now" and Pakistan would look for other "options" if the dialogue failed to make a headway to resolve the issue was "fabricated" and "imaginary," Pakistan Foreign Office said in a statement.

"A number of newspapers have published today a story by the news agency Online regarding the President's address yesterday during the concluding session of the Envoys Conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"This is a fabricated story. The portions given in quotes attributed to the President are totally imaginary," the statement said.

While the news agency said Musharraf did not elaborate on "options" at his disposal, 'Observer' newspaper reported he would approach the international community to press for third party mediation on Kashmir.

The Foreign Office statement said the President's address "contained a detailed overview of the foreign policy with focus on economic diplomacy, efforts to promote and safeguard the interests of Pakistani expatriate community and to mobilize them."
