Karkala, Jun 16: An unidentified dead body was found in a stream at Attikalu near Sanoor here on Thursday June 15 morning. The body was in a decomposed state and the body was separated from the head indicating that it could be a murder.
It was earlier presumed to be a suicide or accidental death case. However, as the body was fished out of the water, it was found that it had no head which indicated that it could be a murder case. Since this is a small and narrow stream, chances of body being flown from distant places are very less, said the localites.
Except the palm of the corpse no other limbs of the body are intact. It has not yet been confirmed whether it is the body of a male or female. Though the localites had spotted a corpse in the said stream a week ago, they had neglected, thinking it could be of any animal.
However, on Thursday a local woman who had gone to the stream to wash clothes saw the hand of the body on the surface. She immediately passed on the information to others and soon the police arrived at the place.
The Karkala police fished out the body and conducted the autopsy. The police are investigating the case as per the complaint filed by one Krishna.
