Mangalore, Jun 16: Over the years, coastal Karnataka has become one of the most important export growth hubs of this region after Bangalore. Launching of container terminal at New Mangalore Port, declaring the Mangalore airport as international airport, plan to set up SEZs in the city and Hassan etc are sure to help this region to gain its prominent position. Simultaneously, the adjacent districts like Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Cannanore in Kerala which have good export potential are also developing very fast to catch up place in international trade.
To address various issues faced by the exporters in these areas, Federation of Indian Export Organization (FIEO) in association with Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and VITC is organizing a seminar on "Exports from Coastal Karnataka - Vision - 2010 and an open house meet with director general of foreign trade on Friday June 16 evening between 4 and 6.30 pm. The seminar will be held at the KCCI building at Bunder.
K T Chako, IAS, the director general of foreign trade, New Delhi will be the chief guest of the seminar. Senior officials from customs, central excise, NMPT and other financial institutions will address the seminar.
