Udupi, May 24: It seems that the post of district superintendent of police which has been vacant ever since the transfer of S Murugan is finally filled in with the appointment of former Puttur ASP Subrahmanyeshwar Rao.
Reliable sources said that the government has appointed Subrahmanyeshwar Rao as the new SP of the district. He is expected to take charge in the next couple of days.
The post had been vacant after Murugan, who was the SP for almost 3 years was transferred to Mysore. Though B K Singh was appointed in his place, he never turned up. Sources said that B K Singh stepped back citing increasing Naxal menace in the district.
B K Singh has already taken up the charge of COD SP in Bangalore recently.
