Mangalore, Jan 18: Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim on Saturday January 18 inspected the work on the new block at Lady Goschen Hospital in the city and took the officials to task for slow progress.
"In the given time frame of 18 months, already 11 months are over, but out of six floors, only two floors have been completed so far. By now a lot of work should have been achieved," the DC chided the contractors of Krishna Shelters Pvt Ltd during his visit.
The contractors replied that during the first one-and-a-half months they had technical issues due to which the work at the expected pace.
"Funds are required for the work but bills worth lacs are pending," they claimed.
Ibrahim inspected every nook and corner of the new block and asked the contractors to complete the work before the end of this year. He also said that the bills will be settled by January 22, asked the contractors to hire more workers.
P P Upadhyaya, managing director, MRPL, New Mangalore Port Trust trustee Tejomaya, Shakuntala, superintendent of Lady Goschen hospital and others were present.
