Hubballi, Jan 6: Attacking Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for demanding proof from Union Minister and JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy for his 60% commission charge in the distribution of houses to the poor, BJP leader and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday wanted to know if Siddaramaiah or Congress leaders had provided any proof for their 40% commission charge against his government.

“It is ridiculous for Siddaramaiah for demanding proof from Kumaraswamy when he or his party leaders had not provided any proof for the 40% commission charge against the BJP regime,” he said speaking the media persons in Hubballi on Monday.

The Haveri BJP MP said corruption was rampant in the Congress government in all departments with hardly any developmental activities taking place. The contractors and the people are feeling the burden of corruption under Congress rule, he said.

Responding to Congress party’s claims that the government has implemented its electoral promises of guarantees, Bommai said people are suffering as the benefits under the guarantees do not reach the beneficiaries.

Unlike the Congress rule for its false promises, he said the B S Yediyurappa regime had implemented free electricity for irrigation pumpsets of farmers and Bhagyalakshmi scheme for the girl charge, he pointing out that the BJP had introduced Vidyanidhi scheme for the children of farmers.

The BJP leader lashed out Congress party for targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the remarks on chanting Dr B R Ambedkar’s anme, Bommai said the Congress protest is meaningless as the entire country knows how the party had treated the architect of Indian Constitution when he was alive.

The Congress leaders are targeting Amit Shah to hide their own shortcomings and insults to Dr Ambedkar. “If the Congress is really concerned about Dr Ambedkar, the party should repent for the lapses of the Congress leaders in the past,” he said.

Bommai lashed out at the government for increasing the bus fare by 15% and termed it anti-people.

The hike in bus fares in the State cannot be compared with the increase in fares of Indian Railways, he said and asked the Chief Minister to concentrate on the problems of the people in the State instead of trying to divert attention by raising extraneous issues.

Instead of providing proper roads and efficient public transport system, it is ridiculous for the government to defend the potholes on the roads by mentioning that even there are craters in the moon, he added.

He later went on inspection of the Padubidri-Chikkalagudda road works taken up at a cost of Rs 6 crore in Hanagal taluk of Haveri district.
