India reports first HMPV case in Bengaluru: govt urges calm amid global concerns

Bengaluru, Jan 6: An eight-month-old baby in Bengaluru has been diagnosed with Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), sparking concerns amidst reports of an HMPV outbreak in China, according to media sources. The case was identified at Baptist Hospital. However, the Karnataka state health department clarified that the sample was not tested in their laboratory, as reported by India Today.

The union health ministry has reassured the public that there is no need for panic. Officials stated that India is closely monitoring the global HMPV situation through multiple channels and has sought regular updates from the World Health Organization (WHO).

As a precautionary step, the ministry plans to enhance the number of laboratories equipped to test for HMPV cases. Additionally, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has been tasked with year-round surveillance to track trends and ensure readiness.

    This Virus is not like Covid -- that is --COVID 19 --- as we understand from experts and various Science -/ medical --articles ---- -(-NOVEL CORONA VIRUS --2019-- novel coronavirus Human coronavirus 2019---- -- -- was for the first time a virus which appeared on planet earth) --- Hence caused deadly damages on human health and deaths - - it is not confirmed whether it originated from WUHAN CHINA -Laboratory--- although very many conspiracies ---- but it is certain from WUHAN --CHINA ---COVID 19-- --HMPV is a respiratory virus was First identified in 2001, -----Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV)--- So, this is an existing Virus -- while one has to be cautious -- follow protocol-- masks and guidelines -- Since already circulating from many years -- may not be necessary for panic -- -- ---BUT LET'S WAIT AND WATCH CAUTIOUSLY ----be on guard--

    @Monty; if I'm not mistaken, this flu had already arrived here long ago, but experts are waking up now and giving advice; I can vouch for this as approximately 2 months ago I with my wife and son got infected one after the other with the virus; symptoms were fever, headaches, nausea, back breaking pain, and deadly cough; the fever and aches went away after 10 days, but the nagging cough persisted for a month though we didn't take any cough syrup but only paracetamol for fever; hot soups, vitamin C chews, electrolytes, and full rest; fully recovered in a month! This is my personal experience; though we all don't have any comorbidities! Please note that this is a very personal opinion based on my personal experience; please always consult experts before coming to any conclusion!

    True. You did the right thing. There is no definitive curative treatment for respiratory viruses, treatment is symptomatic and most important rest.

    Yes Monty; but I feel the virus is mutating to a more potent form every time, and the symptoms are more profound & prolonged unlike the flu attack we got during the COVID saga; the body ache, headache, and cough was simply intolerable during this attack; as I gauge in a person with comorbidities or weakened immune system the chances of super infection with some bacterial infection would require tailored & monitored treatment!!

    According to virologists every new virus spreads slowly but is very dangerous for people with comorbidities but slowly or quickly it mutates to spread faster while losing its potency to cause harm and finally it uses living beings as hosts without causing any harm and becomes harmless. At that time in the past vaccines used to be introduced and claimed they eradicated these infections. As far as corona infection was concerned it was introduced through vaccines and those who recieved it started shedding it to unvaccinated too. I and my family members got it this way and it was severe causing all the symptoms any viral infections do have. I used citrus fruit juices and coconut water without taking any medicines but taking good rest and lots of liquids. Within a day fever stopped, but weakness persisted for 15 days which I hadn't experienced all through my life. Because I didn't use any medicines or mandates my immune system was fine tuned everyday to face any infections seasonal or lab manipulated viral releases.

    Which test identifies or differentiate viruses? Not a single test identifies viruses to definitively can state which virus causes any diseases. Till today science hasn't isolated corona virus to prove it was behind the Covid 19. A report claimed this virus is in existence or has been found 60 years back. Fact is viruses existed thousands of years before humans were born and until pharma mafia or lobby took over people's health all these demons get let out from Time to time.

    HMPV is present in many countries across the world for many years. It is a seasonal respiratory virus and does not directly cause major morbidity or mortality . Some vested interests will take this opportunity to make money.
