Mangalore, Jan 16: "Besant Women's College will organize a one-day national seminar on 'Social Capital Formation' on Friday January 17 at Besant Women's College auditorium,” said former Besant Women's College principal Dr Manjula K T on Wednesday January 15 at a press meet held at Press Club, Mangalore.
Dr Manjula K T said, "The theme of this seminar 'Social Capital Formation' is in line with the ideologies of the institution and has great contemporary relevance, especially in the context of the Indian economy. A planned and positive utilization of human resource holds the key to the nation's economic development. Social capital formation is based on the building of trust and promoting co-operative action among individuals and groups depends largely on human capital."
The seminar will be inaugurated by Professor Dr N Jayaram, Centre for Research Methodology, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. B Mohan Nayak will be the guest of honour and Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, president, Women's National Education Society, Mangalore, will preside over the function.
Pushpalatha B K, principal, Besant Women's College, Indira Devi K P, Dr Nalini M S, co-ordinators, and Smitha Shenoy were present at the press meet.
