Mangalore, Dec 6: The local unit of Mogaveera Yelu Pattana Samyuktha Sabha (R), Boloor, on Friday December 6 demanded a probe into the death of Sohan, the boy who died in the MCC swimming pool recently and contended that his death was a pre-planned murder.
"Sohan's death was not a natural death but a pre-planned murder. Sohan was an intelligent boy and a good swimmer. This is just a swimming pool and it is hard to believe that he drowned. Several organizations have demanded for proper probe into this matter," said Yashwanth P Mendon, president of Mangalore Moghaveera Yeelu Pattana Samyuktha Sabha (R), Boloor.
Addressing a press meet here on Friday, he said, "The police department is investigating this case. But there has been neither progress nor transparency in the case. The police department took the accused 23 days after the incident.
"Previously, we too had come before the media expressing our dissapointment over the irresponsibility of officials and police in this case. Though several media demanded for unbiased probe, there has been no progress in the case. The police department should immediately do conduct a proper investigation into this matter and arrest the culprits," he demanded.
He also said that culprits should be arrested immediately or else in future they may become a threat to society. "If the police department fails to respond in the right way, the family of Sohan will also hold hunger strike," he warned.
H Gangadhar, advocate and member of Mangalore Mogaveera Yelu Pattana Samyuktha Sabha (R), Boloor said, "The swimming pool lacks facilities like CCTV cameras and adequate security personnel. The MCC should provide these facilities to the pool on priority basis, and until it is done the pool shoud be closed. There was even a blood clot near Sohan's eyes. Hence, the police should investigate the case thoroughly."
Mohan Bengre and others were present.
