Mangalore, Dec 2: The activists of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, Shaktinagar unit, on Monday December 2 protested over the unsolved case of dacoity and murder of Bhavani in Shaktinagar Karmika colony last month.
Addressing the protestors, Yogish Kumar Jeppu, president, Tulunada Rakshana Vedike said, "We have organized this protest to urge the department concerned to take the Bhavani murder case seriously and arrest the culprits as soon as possible.
"It has been learnt that a few people's representatives have been interfering in the investigation procedure and thus the case is getting delayed. The residents of Shaktinagar and surrounding areas are living in fear ever since this incident. Drug peddlers have also increased in these localities, causing further anxiety among the residents," he said.
"If this case is not solved at the earliest, all the units of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike will join hands and hold a massive district-wide protest in the coming days," he warned.
"It is also very sad to know that no association has come forward to fight for justice in this case, but if had been injustice caused to the rich, there would have been competition among associations to protest," he added.
Speaking on the occasion, M G Hegde, chief spokesperson of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike said, "This case has remained unsolved even after 20 days of the incident. The police have taken many people for questioning, but the actual culprit has not yet been caught.
"Unseen hands have been putting pressure on the police department. We are not urging the concerned to hand over this case to any CBI or CID, but give full freedom to two constables, they will solve the matter. Since the police have been put under pressure, they are unable to catch hold of the real culprits," he alleged.
Jyothika Jain, Razik Ullal, Rakshith Shetty, ex corporator Azeez and many others were present.
