Kasargod, Sep 26: The Hosadurg police have arrested two people in connection with the murder of CPM activist, Mangad resident M B Balakrishnan (45).
The arrested are identified as K V Sham Mohan (24), a resident of Aryadka colony and Srijayan (38), a resident near government higher secondary school.
Sham Mohan was arrested near Chervathur railway station while Srijayan was nabbed at Nalanvadukkal.
When main accused Kuttapi alias Prajith, who was arrested earlier, was subjected to further questioning, the police learnt that more people were involved in the killing. Sham Mohan was passing on information of the movements of Balakrishnan to Prajith, it is learnt.
When Balakrishnan was riding his scooter on September 16, he was stopped by Prajith. After the murder, he helped Sham Mohan to hide, said the police.
The two were taken by bike by Srijayan to Kasargod via Cherkala and then they hid themselves, say the police. Police have seized Srijayan's bike. Police have also found the weapon used for the murder. The weapon was kept hidden in a place a little away from the spot of crime. The accused have said that the knife was brought from Bangalore.
Balakrishnan's murder had resulted in a day-long strike in Kasargod and stone-pelting in a few areas.
