The laboratory plays an important role in the diagnostic phase of the health care and thus the workshop intended to guide the students of Masters in hospital administration, so that they would establish high standard in the area and achieve NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accreditation.
The workshop started with a prayer song, after which the delegates were escorted to the dais by the staff coordinator Santosh Kumar.
Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of Father Muller Medical College; Fr Rudolf D' Sa, administrator; Jayprakash Alva, dean of the college; Santosh Kumar staff coordinator; Dr Shivshankar, associate professor and quality manager for NABL, FMMC and Dr Sumanth, associate professor and deputy technical manager for NABL, FMMC were present on the dais and inaugurated the workshop.
In his presidential address, Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of Father Muller Medical College said, “The workshop is intended to enlighten the process of quality which is achieved with zero errors. The concept of quality in the modern medical industry depends upon every aspect which is related to each other.”
He clarified further, “Quality comes at a cost which can be expensive but the truth is that many researchers have proved lack of quality is expensive. Waste of material, redoing experiments, creating errors and mistakes due to lack of quality creates extra cost, thus the mission should be quality.”
He also said, “Initially nominal investment is required but at the same time quality is expected from the top management, the core committee as well as the least employee in the hierarchy of the organization to deliver the best and motivation should be provided by ensuring that success is granted at every level.”
“When the lab at Father Muller wanted an NABL accreditation many backsets were experienced, but today in this district Father Muller Hospital is the only hospital that has an accreditation for all the laboratories,” he added.
He concluded by congratulating the faculty for organizing a workshop that would be fruitful for the future of the students and motivate them.
