Mangalore, Aug 25: ‘DSIA Auditorium’, the newly built conference hall of District Small Industries Association, here, was inaugurated on Saturday August 24, at 11 am by S Sumanth, managing director, MESCOM.
Addressing the gathering S Sumanth observed that his organization, MESCOM should be thankful to the industries of the region as they were its main revenue providers.
“Unfortunately we are deficient in power supply and are unable to fully meet the demand of the industries. This situation should improve within one year as are working towards becoming self sufficient,” he said.
The guests of honour Mohammed Ameen, president, KCCI, Mangalore; S G Hegde, joint director, District Industries Commission, Mangalore and K Socretese, deputy director, MSMEDI, Mangalore felicitated the association on this occasion.
‘DSIA Auditorium’ is a full-fledged conference facility having a seating capacity for 150 persons and it will enable the association to conduct meetings, workshops and interactive sessions for the betterment of small industries sector of the region.
Situated on the first floor of DSIA Building, Industrial Estate, Yeyyadi, Mangalore 575008, ‘DSIA Auditorium’ has been developed at a cost of Rs 12 lakhs with the help of voluntary contributions from the association members, industries and other generous donors. The main dais of the auditorium has been named as ‘Sri K S Rao Vedike’ in honour of Late Sri K S Rao, founder president of the association.
All the donors were felicitated on the occasion. Usha S Rao wife of Late K S Rao and his son Sumith S Rao were honoured in recognition of their financial contribution.
K Jayaraj Pai, president of the association presided over the function and K Sudhir Prabhu, secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Sumith S Rao, building committee chairman of the association compered the programme.
