Mangalore, Aug 19: A group of young and enthusiastic engineers of the final year mechanical engineering of SJEC have brought in innovative modification in the conventional domestic gas stove, particularly the gas burner.
Shreekanth N R, Bharathesha A B, Sharath Kumar K and Abhijith under the guidance of Prathviraj H, assistant professor in the department of mechanical engineering, have developed this innovative gas burner.
In conventional gas stoves there will be two or more burners for different sized vessels. The young engineers here at SJEC innovatively designed a single gas burner, producing different circumferential flames to accommodate different sized vessel. This project is mainly concerned with the design and fabrication of a single innovative gas burner which can produce variable circumferential flames depending on the base diameter of the cooking vessel.
Here three different sized gas burners which are arranged concentrically with matching mixing chamber arrangement so that the gas through the individual burner can be controlled. The gas burner receives the controlled gas flow rate by three way control valve.
An ultrasonic sensor is placed in the gas stove in appropriate location to sense the diameter of the vessel. The signal generated by ultrasonic sensors is sent to the microcontroller which will generate signal to the servomotor which controls the control valve automatically.
This project titled 'The study and design of domestic gas burner and modification of gas stove' has been approved and partly funded by the KSCST, Bangalore under the 'student project programme-36th series'.
This project is also selected for the 36th series of Student Projects Programme - Seminar and Exhibition 2012-2013 to be held on August 30 and August 31 at Angadi Institute of Technology and Management, Belgaum.
