Mangalore, Apr 30: “Permission to vote in the upcoming assembly election will be granted only to those whose names are included in the voters list,” said Dakshina Kannada district election officer, district commissioner Harsha Gupta.
Briefing further he said that necessary training to election officers and staffs at various places is going on so that they will be well prepared for the assembly election. As he is unable to visit all training centers, he contacted all the centers from his office through audio conference on Monday.
People who have EPIC card with photo; if their names are not found in voter’s list then they will not be permitted to vote. He also asked election staff to strictly follow the rules and allow only those voters whose names are in the voters list and carry out one of the 23 documents to prove their identity.
He asked the election officials and staffs to carry out election duty in proper manner and thus be a role model to others. Adding he said, district administration is always ready to solve the problems of the election staff. People can also contact on 1077 for any issue or grievance if they have about election, he added.
As sufficient police and paramilitary forces are deployed for security, there will not be any problem of law and order, assured DC.
If any person witnesses any incidents of violation of code of conduct, he asked them to inform 1077. Adding to that, he asked officials to investigate the code of conduct violation incidents sincerely without being benefactor to one side.
The election staff will be provided with all the basic facilities, including food water and seating arrangements. All the staff on poll duty should be compulsorily present at the mustering center on May 4 at 6.30 am, said DC.
Visually impaired and invalids who can be accompanied by persons to the voting booth, can also vote, he added.
