Kasargod, Apr 29: The local police have issued a lookout notice for a person, who has absconded after raping a five-year old girl. Details containing the photograph and other details about the accused have been dispatched to most districts of Karnataka and Kerala.
The police are trying to locate the whereabouts of Maruti (45), a native of Davangere in Karnataka, and till recently living in an accommodation in Hosdurg in the district.
Maruti reportedly raped a five-year-old daughter of a relative living near his home on April 17 this year. When the girl shouted, her mother came running. He had assaulted the woman then and threatened her of dire consequences if she either divulged the matter to others or took her daughter to a doctor.
Out of fear, the woman had kept quiet for several days, and desisted from referring her daughter, who was complaining of acute pain, to hospital. However, after the girl developed further complications and her pain aggravated, she admitted the girl into the district government hospital where the doctors confirmed that the girl had been raped. The girl’s condition is improving, the doctors said.
The police registered the case after the doctors found out what had happened. Hosadurg circle inspector of police, K V Venugopal, and sub-inspector, P K Jose, collected details. By the time they began investigation, Maruti fled from his residence and became untraceable.
