Kundapur: Elderly pedestrian killed in autorickshaw accident

Kundapur, Jan 22: A pedestrian sustained severe injuries after being hit by an autorickshaw while walking early in the morning and succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, January 22 near Nityananda Complex at Basrur Moorukai in Kundapur.

The deceased has been identified as Somayya, a resident of Odeyar Hobli village in Kundapur.

According to reports, Somayya was walking on BC Road towards Basrur Moorukai at around 5:30 am when the accident took place. As he approached Nityananda Complex, an autorickshaw speeding recklessly from Moodlakatte towards Basrur Moorukai suddenly veered left and hit him. The impact threw Somayya to the roadside, causing severe injuries to his face and legs.

He was rushed to Kundapur government hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.

A case has been registered at Kundapur traffic police station.
