Mangalore, Apr 25: In two separate incidents, two persons from Dakshina Kannada district lost their lives after being hit by trains on Wednesday April 24.
In the first instance, Jayarama Gowda (55) from Navoor, Kaniyoor in Puttur taluk, was knocked down by the train when he was trying to cross the railway tracks at Eladka between Kaniyoor and Yedamangala at around 8 am. Due to the impact of the accident, his head was separated from the torso, but only torso was recovered later. Gowda is survived by wife and two sons.
P Sesappa Poojary from Bondel in the city lost his life after being crushed by a train between Ullal and Kolya near the city at about 11 am. He had left his home, informing the family members that he would return after reading some newspapers. Nobody in the family could guess why he travelled to Ullal, which is around 15 kms away from his home. His body was identified with the help of the cell phone found in his possession.
The railway police have registered both the cases.
