Mangalore, Apr 10: The 258th birthday anniversary of Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (founder of homoeopathy) was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Deralakatte, here.
The programme began with welcome speech by the principal Dr Srinath Rao.
Professor T C Shivashankara Murthy, honourable vice chancellor, Mangalore University was the chief guest. The guest of honour was Dr Dinesh Rajkumar Samuel, distinguished Alumnus, FMHMC. The dignitaries lit the lamp.
The chief guest in his address spoke about the development of modern medicine. Still it is not sufficient to satisfy the needs of the suffering people. Homoeopathy is recognized as one of the best complementary system, a popular alternative system, he said. He emphasized the duty of every doctor to provide a health education and treatment as infantile deaths are common due to lack of nutrition.
Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Administrator, FMHMC&H, delivered his message.
The president Fr Patrick Rodrigues felicitated the chief guest and guest of honour with a memento. In his message he cited the importance of scientific evidence regarding the action of homoeopathic medicines. Dr Blany Lobo, the convener of the programme proposed the vote of thanks and the programme concluded with the institutional anthem.
As a part of the celebrations, homoeopathic medical quiz, debate, extempore, homoeopathic drug picture presentation competitions were conducted and prizes were awarded to the winners.
