Kundapur, Apr 8: ‘Janaseva Kendra’, an election campaign office of former BJP MLA, Halady Shetty, who has since distanced himself from the party, was inaugurated in the town on Sunday April 7.
“Shetty was in a dilemma about his political future. I am glad that he has bowed to the pressure of his fans to contest for the assembly election as an independent candidate this time. This constituency will turn a new leaf in its history by electing an independent candidate to the state assembly,” predicted Panchayati Raj expert and lawyer, T Balachandra Shetty.
He was addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of Shetty’s campaign office, ‘Janaseva Kendra’, at Indira Sadan complex in the town. He hailed Halady Srinivas Shetty as a sincere politician and honest MLA in BJP, who had fought for the principles and policies of his party, and worked for strengthening Panchayati Raj system in our democratic set up. “Srinivas Shetty deserves full credit for working tirelessly for developing this constituency. His decision to enter the election fray as an independent has created a sense of zeal and renewed vigour among us,” he narrated.
Former MLA, B Appanna Hegde, inaugurated the office.
