Mangalore: Harsh Gupta takes charge as new deputy commissioner

Mangalore, Mar 28: Harsh Gupta, IAS, took charge as the new deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district.
He took over the charge from N Prakash in a low-key ceremony.
After arriving in the city on Thursday evening, he met district officials and also the outgoing DC, who briefed him about the preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Gupta was earlier working as the labour commissioner in Bangalore. After finishing his engineering, he passed his IAS examination in 1997 and was posted in New Delhi.
Over the years, he served as the chief executive officer of Bellary zilla panchayat, chief manager in the department of urban development at Bagalkot, and deputy commissioner of Chamarajanagar, Chikmagalur, Bellary, Shimoga, Mysore and Bidar districts, apart from becoming joint commissioner of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, and managing director of Karnataka Milk Federation.
