Mangalore: Two thieves in police net, valuables worth Rs 4.8 lac seized

Mangalore, Mar 26: Kadri police on Tuesday March 26 arrested two thieves and recovered electronic items and laptops worth over Rs 4.8 lac.
The accused are identified as Muneer Ahmed alias Goods Muneer alias Munna alias Nithin (57), a resident of Bunder, and Ibrahim (67), a resident of Hosangady, Manjeshwar.
Sources said they were arrested Shivbagh area on Tuesday.
The two had committed thefts at Tally Computers in Balmatta, Smile dental clinic, Bejai, another computer store at PVS, Kapikad and Urva Stores.
The police recovered 4 LCDs, 2 cameras, 8 laptops, 3 mobile phones and headphones, altogether worth Rs 4,84,690 from the accused. Their scooter was also taken into possession.
It is said that among the two, Muneer has over cases against him, and had even threatened to file a case against police themselves. His wife too reportedly threatened the police after Muneer was caught. Sources said that Muneer's father Azeez too is involved in theft cases, and so also his brother.
The accused were later produced in court.
