Mangalore: Bike hits trailer stopped by RTO - One dead, another critical

Mangalore, Mar 23: One of the two persons critically injured in a bike-trailer accident at KPT circle here on Saturday March 23 passed away in the hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Durgaprasad, a resident of Yedapadavu.
The other person who was injured has been identified as Harsha, a resident of Car Street. His state remains critical.
Both were working as AC mechanics near Kadri Kambala and were on their way for servicing an air-conditioner when the accident took place.
Meanwhile, the protest at KPT circle came to an end after RTO Mallikarjun assured that action would be taken against the officials and the matter would be brought to the notice of higher authorities. The trailer driver reportedly admitted that the RTO officials Ravindra and Vishwanath took a bribe of Rs 2,000 from him and also seized his documents before fleeing the spot.
After the RTO's assurance, the crowd dispersed and the situation returned to normalcy.

Two persons were critically injured when a trailer carrying iron rods suddenly stopped and their bike crashed into it.
The accident occured at KPT circle here on Saturday March 23 at around 10 am.
It is said that RTO officials stopped the trailer for some reason. When the trailer driver applied the breaks, two persons who were on a bike behind crashed into the iron rods that were laden on the trailer.
The identities of the injured are yet to be ascertained. They were rushed to AJ hospital with severe injuries on the head. They are said to be critical.
The RTO officials who had brought the trailer to a sudden stop escaped from the spot, eyewitnesses said.
A large crowd gathered at the spot and demanded the RTO officials' return. They gheraoed ACP Subramanyam and began shouting slogans in protest.
The officials were later identified as Ravindra and Vishwanath.
RTO Mallikarjun arrived at the spot and the crowd surrounded him too demanding strict action against the officials.
Traffic has been stalled in the area.
