Mangalore, Mar 19: "Renukacharya, state excise minister and Murugesh Nirani, minister for medium and large scale industries will soon join KJP party. We have already done all kinds of arrangements to welcome them into our party," said KJP secretary V Dhananjay Kumar.
Addressing a press meet after inaugurating the party’s district office here on Tuesday March 19, he said that Renukacharya and Nirani have been in close contact with KJP ever since urban local body elections were held and have also informed that they would soon join the party.
Reacting to the recent statement by housing minister Somanna that he will try to bring KJP chief Yeddyurappa back into the BJP fold, Dhananjay brushed off the statement and termed Somanna as a leader belonging to 'migration category'.
"Somanna has migrated to most of the parties in the state. But our leader Yeddyurappa is not made like that, hence people should pay no heed to Somanna's words," he said.
"Somanna should concentrate on his own party rather than worrying about KJP party members," he retorted.
Commenting on the recently held urban local body elections, Kumar said that he was happy about KJP's performance as it came without any preparations. "The party would have won more than 1000 seats if BJP leaders had joined the party much earlier," he said.
"After the election, the local unit in Bangalore called a party meeting to review the achievements and to discuss about the upcoming legislative elections. As per the decision taken in the meeting, the party has formed four teams under prominent leaders who would travel around the state to strengthen the party," he added.
"In the upcoming assembly election, the party will support a few leaders like JD(U) state president M P Naadagowda, Raitha Sangha leader K S Puttanaiah, Kodihalli Chandrashekar, Dalit Sangharsha Samiti state president Venkataswami, Yogaramesh, and in other places the party members will contest," said Dhananjay Kumar.
Ravindra Shetty Harekala, district president, Dinakar, state secretary, member Mariamma Thomas among others were present.
