Mangalore: Car Driver, Woman Passenger Assaulted, Culprits Escape with Loot

Mangalore, Nov 10: A group of 12 people stopped a car which was plying from Bajpe airport and assaulted a woman passenger including the driver of the car near Maravooru on Friday November 9.

Sources said that the group belonged to a particular association. They are said to have also looted Rs 3 lac and two mobile phones.

The woman passenger is identified as Deeba Algni (23). The activists stopped the car, made the car driver Dharma sit behind and took them near the Bajpe petrol pump. They fled from the spot after looting the valuables.

The incident is alleged to be carried out by Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD).

Deeba's mother Zubeida, who is an independent member of the gram panchayat, said that Deeba was on her way to pay money as deposit to their landlord when the group stopped the car and thrashed her daughter as well as driver and snatched away the money. They also took away Deeba’s mobile phone.

Deeba in a complaint with the police stating that the robbers spoke Beary language and that she could identify them. Both the injured have been admitted to a hospital.

A case has been registered at Bajpe police station.
