Kundapur, Nov 7: The court has annulled a marriage after it was found that the bride's family had cheated the groom with regard to caste.
Krishnamoorthy’s wedding was declared invalid by the court after he was cheated by the bride’s family stating that the girl belonged to Brahmin community.
Krishnamoorthy is a priest from Brahmin community hailing from Gangolli. He was in search of a bride as there was shortage of girls in his community. This was known by Hegde couple in Karwar, who claimed a girl from Ganiga caste as their daughter and gave her in marriage to Krishnamoorthy.
On July 2010, the duo got married at Kirimanjeshwara. Later Krishnamoorthy got to know the actual truth after noticing his wife's way of life. Hence he approached the court to seek justice.
The court after investigating in detail declared their wedding as invalid and hence decision was made in favour of Krishnamoorthy.
