Bangalore India Bio-2013 to be Held in February

Bangalore, Sep 25: The 13th edition of the Bangalore India Bio 2013 showcasing the latest advances in the Bio-technology sector will be held here in February next year.

The three-day mega event being held from February 4 to 6 next year will consist of multi-track conferences, international trade show and Bio-partnering, Karnataka’s Principal Secretary to IT, BT, Science and Technology I N S Prasad said.

Addressing a press conference to mark the curtain raiser event of the show, he said more than 700 delegates, 100 renowned speakers from India and abroad will take part in the event.

A total of 100 exhibitors from the best of industry, research organisations, academia and others have already confirmed their participation, he said,

Prasad said many MoUs, technical tie-ups and business collaborations are expected to be signed during the show.

Chairperson of Karnataka’s Vision Group, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, said the event will also focus on partnering and deal making trends, biosimilars, regenerative medicine, molecular biotechnology and bio informatics, vaccines and clinical research.

The theme of the Bangalore India Bio 2013 is “Biotech for a better tomorrow,” the Managing Director of Biocon Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said.

The Vision Group is also working with IIM Bangalore to translate Bio-technology concepts into business, she said.

The first batch of 90 students undergoing training at the Bio-technology Finishing School will soon graduate and some of them have already secured job offers.
