Mangalore, Sep 25: Kala Kunj Road in Kodialbail here was witness to an amazing scene as 'Monkey Man' Jyothiraj climbed a building on his hands and feet, much to the delight of all who flocked to watch him.
Jyothi Raj (better known as Kothi Raj), who hails from Chitradurga, is known for scaling building walls, and has done so in various places including Bangalore, Mysore and Udupi.
On Tuesday September 25, he displayed his amazing skills by climbing Shalini Enclave at Kodialbail.
Every year, Jyothi Raj wins the hearts of Udupi citizens during Ganeshotsava festivities, however, this time, as he was recuperating from an injury, he could not make it. He instead came to Mangalore and was supposed to climb the PVS building, but due to traffic and other issues, he was denied permission. He then chose to climb Shalini Enclave in Kala Kunj Road.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Jyothi Raj promised that he would come to Mangalore again and with prior permission, would climb the tallest building in the city. He lamented that he was not getting any support from the government even though he has a number of admirers and even students who learn such skills from him.
Ashok, his friend who brought him to Mangalore and arranged the event, said that he is interested in supporting those who perform stunts. "I like to support stuntmen and those who conduct cultural activities. It is our duty to encourage them and do something positive for their families,"
Jyothi Raj has earlier climbed a 16-floor building in Bangalore, and also performed similar stunts at Jog Falls.
