Karkala, Sep 24: Two people have been arrested for attempting to rape a married woman after luring her with a job offer here on Thursday September 20.

The arrested have been identified as Premdas Kini (53) from Kukundoor and Bhaskar, a relative of the woman.

Sources say that the woman requested Bhaskar to look for a job for her. In response, he said that he already knew of a job at a furniture shop and asked her to go for an interview.

As it was a national bandh on September 20, the woman requested to schedule the interview for the next day but the accused forced her and managed to take her to a lodge in Hiriyadka.

The accused under the influence of alcohol tried to allegedly rape the woman. The woman warned the duo not to get close to her and threatened to commit suicide.

It is learnt that the accused fled leaving the victim with a death threat if she revealed the incident to the police.

The victim along with a relative registered a complaint at the Karkala town police station.

Pramod Kumar, circle inspector along with other officials arrested the duo who are now under judicial custody.
