Mangalore, Sep 21: A teen drowned near the Shambavi-Nandini estuary on Thursday September 20.

The deceased has identified as Inzamam (19), son of Ashraf and Nafeesa from Udupi.

Sources say that five boys named Wasim (20), Raziq (20), Imran (20), Inzamam (19) and Swalih (20) went for a dip in the water and among them Inzamam and Swalih were pulled by the water current.

Local fishermen rushed to their help, but were only successful in saving Swalih.

Intense search is on to retrieve the body of Inzamam. As the current flow was towards the north, it is assumed that the body might have drifted towards Hejamadi.

MLA Abhayachandra Jain has given instructions to Udupi and Mangalore police.

As per the information received, Inzamam was working in Udupi as a mobile technician.

A case has been registered at Mulki police station.
