Kundapur, Aug 6: Corporation Bank and Dakshina Kannada Udupi district Cooperative Fish Marketing Federation jointly organized a loan distribution program for fisherwomen here at Jayshree Auditorium Hemmadi on Saturday August 4. Loans at 3% interest rates were distributed during the occasion.
Laxmi Narayan, Byndoor MLA, inaugrated the programme by lighting a lamp.
Speaking on the occassion he said that many families would benefit from the loan for their business and this will also help them to educate their children.Corporation bank is providing loans at 3% interest rate. If regular payment is not done it can go upto 12%. He asked the fisherwomen to make the best use of the loans provided and return it in the given time which will help in giving more loans with less interest rate in the future. He also said that he will try to reduce the present interest rate to 2%.
The Hemmadi fishermen Sahakari Sangha welcomed Kota Shrinivas Poojary with a garland and a shawl.
Speaking on the occasion Kota Shrinivas Poojari apologized for the delay in distributing the loans. He spoke about the life of fishermen and women. As the minister of fort and muzrai he said that he will do his best for the betterment of fishermen and women and for all the forts in coastal area. He asked them to repay the loan on time so that it would not be a burden for them in the future.
Dr G Shankar Pravathakaru, G Shankar Family Trust, Udupi along with the other dignitaries on the dais distributed a loan amount of Rs 6,25,00,000 on this occasion.
