Bangalore, May 15: The Akhila Karnataka Catholic Christian Sangha, which has been spearheading the cause of Kannada in the Bangalore Catholic Archdiocese, has welcomed the Vatican’s proposal to set up a Karnataka Regional Major Seminary.

The Sangha has, in a press release, said it wanted Kannada to be given primacy in the churches in Karnataka in administration and prayers and worship.

The Sangaha Secregtary, Raphael Raj, said the three-language policy of using Tamil, English and Kannada should be discontinued forthwith.

The Sangha will be appealing to three Bishops, who will be coming to Bangalore to look into the modalities of setting up the regional seminary, to give primacy to Kannada in the seminary’s functioning, the press release said.
