Udupi: Bishop Inaugurates Stations of Cross at St Antony's Church

Udupi, Mar 9: The pastoral visit to St Antony’s church, Kunthal Nagar was held on Sunday March 4, 2012 at 3.30 pm. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore was warmly welcomed by the parish priest Fr Jerome Montero, vice-president Valerian Mathias and secretary Theiador Mendonca along with the parishioner and the guest priests.

On this occasion Dr Aloysius D’Souza blessed and inaugurated the Stations of the Cross built around the church premises. After blessings he honored the donors. There were 26 candidates who were given the sacrament of confirmation. Thereafter the Bishop held meetings with various pious associations and gave them spiritual advice.

In his homily during the holy Eucharistic celebration he mentioned to live a sacrificial life with dedication to the teaching of Jesus Christ. He said that a life of selfless love wills always yield good harvest in the next world.

During the visit Fr Ritesh Rodrigues the secretary of Bishop, Fr Maxim Pinto and the director Assisi Nilaya were also present. The Bishop blessed the gathering and assured his prayers to the faithfully. Br Nelson conducted the liturgical singing.

On March 11, 2012 at 4.30 pm there will be the devotion of the way of the cross at Kunthal Nagar church premises. All the parishioners of the Udupi deanery along with the Episcopal vicar Dr Baptist Menezes, Fr Fred Mascarenhas, the dean of Udupi deanery , Manipal parish priest, Perampali parish, Udupi parish, Kalmadi parish, Udyavara parish, Katpadi parish, Yermal parish, Moodubelle parish and Pamboor parishes will also be present . A general invitation to all the devotees is given by the parish priest of Kunthal Nagar church.

The Way of Cross will be held at the open ground in the church premises on March 11 at 4:30 pm.
