Bengaluru, Apr 16: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in the city, Bengaluru Police have arrested 10 individuals, including a foreign national, in connection with three separate drug peddling cases. The total estimated value of narcotic substances and related materials seized during the operations is pegged at a staggering Rs 6.77 crore.
In one of the major operations, the Anti-Narcotics Wing of the City Crime Branch (CCB) apprehended a man from Kerala and seized 3.5 kilograms of hydroponic ganja, Rs 26 lac in cash, and a mobile phone. Police sources said the accused had sourced the high-grade ganja from Kerala and was attempting to distribute it across Bengaluru. The total value of the seized contraband and items in this case is estimated at Rs 4.52 crore.

In a separate case, a foreign national was arrested with one kilogram of MDMA crystals, along with a mobile phone and a two-wheeler. The value of the seizure stands at Rs 2 crore. Police investigations revealed that the accused, who arrived in India on a business visa back in 2012, was procuring MDMA at a low cost in Bengaluru and selling it at exorbitant rates—up to Rs 20,000 per gram—mainly targeting college students and IT/BT professionals.
In yet another operation, eight individuals from Kerala were arrested based on intelligence inputs. The accused were found operating out of a lodge in Attur Layout, Yelahanka New Town. The police recovered 110 grams of MDMA, 10 mobile phones, and a tablet device. According to officials, these men had initially arrived in Bengaluru for employment opportunities but turned to drug peddling to fund their lavish lifestyles.
The MDMA tablets, as per police findings, were being sold at rates ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 each, primarily to college students and employees of the city’s tech sector.
All the accused are currently in custody and are undergoing rigorous interrogation as investigations continue.
Speaking on the matter, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand lauded the efforts of the Anti-Narcotics Wing. “The CCB team has done commendable work in these drug busts, and we remain committed to eradicating narcotics from the city,” he said.
Meanwhile, in connection with the molestation case reported from Sudduguntepalya in BTM Layout, Commissioner Dayanand confirmed that the accused has been apprehended by a police team led by the South East DCP. Further investigation is underway.
