Mangaluru: St Agnes College orgainses two day national-level intercollegiate fest

Mangaluru, Apr 7: The PG department of psychology and clinical psychology at St Agnes College (Autonomous), successfully organized a two-day national-level intercollegiate fest, ‘Vistara – Labyrinth of mind,’ providing students with a dynamic platform to showcase their skills in psychology, arts, literature, culture, and general knowledge. The fest, open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 15 colleges with 156 participants across Karnataka, making it a grand success.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a warm and grand reception, where the chief guest, Dr Tauseef Ahmed, an animal rescuer, was welcomed with full honor. The event was graced by dignitaries including Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes College; Sr Dr M Vinora AC, PG coordinator; Dr Premanand, associate professor and head of the department of psychology; Rosita Sequeira, staff convenor; and Sridevi, student convenor. The dignitaries formally inaugurated the fest by unveiling the prestigious ‘Vistara 2025’ trophy.

The first day of the fest featured twelve exhilarating competitions across various venues, where students showcased their creativity and intellectual prowess. Events such as Persona (Face painting), Clinical confluence (clinical case presentation), synapse search (treasure hunt), psych tank (shark tank-style pitching), mindvertise (mad ads), mind in motion (dance battle), luminara (dance drama), sophisma (debate), cogniq (quiz), lucid runaway (fashion show), psych lens (photography), and shadow frames (reel making) saw active participation. A total of 156 participants competed in these events, with the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, emerging as the overall champions, while Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Shivamogga, secured the runners-up position.

The second day was dedicated to experiential learning through two concurrent workshops. The first, a workshop on Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), was conducted by Sahasra Rao, a consultant psychologist and PhD scholar specializing in Dance Movement Therapy. The interactive session focused on self-expression, body awareness, and therapeutic movement techniques, engaging thirty participants in a transformative experience. The second workshop, titled ‘Tapping solutions for thanatophobia,’ was led by Dr V Premanand, head of the department of psychology. This session introduced Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) as a method to address the fear of death, with live demonstrations and practical exercises benefiting the thirty-nine attendees.

The fest concluded on a high note, receiving an overwhelming response from students and faculty. The organizing team expressed gratitude to all contributors for making ‘Vistara – Labyrinth of Mind’ a memorable and enriching experience.
