Mumbai, Apr 7: Speaking at a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) event in Mumbai, the organization’s general secretary, Dattatreya Hosabale, paid glowing tributes to Ahilyabai Holkar and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, calling them timeless icons of good governance and moral leadership.
Reflecting on historical figures who fulfilled the aspirations of the people, Hosabale said that India has been blessed with such incarnations throughout its history. "Ahilyabai Holkar's name has become immortal like a star in the pages of history. Every incident of her life could inspire a serial, drama or film," he stated.

Recalling a recent Sangh event in Nagpur, Hosabale mentioned that society was urged to participate wholeheartedly in the Jayanti celebrations of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar. “If there was any shortcoming in the programme, the organisers expressed regret. But I believe there was none. However, it would have been more meaningful if the chief guest had been a woman,” he said.
Touching upon the theme of good governance, he remarked, “There is a widespread discourse on good governance across the country. People want a well-run state where everyone can live happily.
The concept of good governance in India starts with Shri Ram. Ram Rajya is not just an idea it has been realised in various forms.”
Referring to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Hosabale said the Maratha king was a living example of how a state should function. “Everyone knows about Shivaji Maharaj’s principles of governance. His leadership taught us how to run a state with a balance of power, law, and dharma.”
The RSS leader reiterated that ideals rooted in righteousness, moral force, and public welfare continue to guide India’s cultural and governance values even today.
